Christmas List Site Update

I've spent a little time redoing several things on the Christmas list site to make it better, prettier, and more user-friendly. I was holding out on rolling out the changes for when the "add multiple items at once" feature was done, but it ended up taking too long. It's close enough to Christmas that I decided to roll everything else out. I hope to get the multiple item adding done between feedings and diaper changes, but it might be too late to be terribly useful.

I have also extended the invitation to my side of the family to use this site. If it gets to be too many people listed, I'll look at ways to make groups that represent each family in our extended tree. I don't think it'll be a problem, but if it is, it shouldn't be too hard to find a ...

Childbirth Through The Eyes of a Second Grader

Aunt Donna sent this to me through Facebook, and it just amused me so much I wanted to share... It was written by a second grade teacher:

I've been teaching now for about fifteen years. I have two kids myself, but the best birth story I know is the one I saw in my own second grade classroom a few years back.

When I was a kid, I loved show-and-tell. So I always have a few sessions with my students. It helps them get over shyness and usually, show-and-tell is pretty tame. Kids bring in pet turtles, model airplanes, pictures of fish they catch, stuff like that. And I never, ever place any boundaries or limitations on them. If they want to lug it in to school and talk about it, they're welcome.

Well, one day this little girl, Erica, a very bright, very outgoing kid, takes her ...

The Month Of June

Yeah... So I really felt like I didn't have much to report each week, which made it harder to write. But as I look back, there actually was a decent amount that happened... Just not as much baby-wise :-) Let's see what I can do summary-wise.

Baby Anderson is soooo active! Some days, I feel like he's kicking through my entire work day, which gets annoying sometimes, but it's probably better than if he wasn't really active.... I might get anxious :-p. Actually, the first couple days we were in Michigan it was over 90 degrees and super humid... not only was I uncomfortably hot, but Geekling liked it even less. I barely felt him move at all those two days, which was worrisome, but once Derek got the window AC unit installed and the weather cooled down, he was much more active. Despite his super-active-ness ...

Week 24 Adventuring

Another late update, I know... This week was a little crazy for me, and now that we have season passes to Seven Peaks we're spending a couple evenings a week there... Jeff swam around a lot on Wednesday, and his arms are still pretty sore today, so at least we're getting the exercise I was hoping for :-) I got burned pretty good last Saturday, but by Monday the red had faded mostly (at least, it didn't look so violently red) but it was still pretty sensitive. Monday morning, my company got rid of a bunch of desks and other furniture... and the only time they gave us to pick up stuff we wanted was between 9 and noon, when everyone is supposed to be at work -_- So I've had a few hours to make up through the week, but at least I got my desk ...

Memorial Day Fun, And Trek Thoughts

So today was the first non-Sunday that both Jeff and I had off in a while (not counting moving days, etc.) and we took full advantage of it in lazy, pre-baby style :-) I slept in to the gloriously late hour of 10:30 (almost every morning we have to be somewhere at 9am or just before, so even when I don't have to be somewhere till later I usually wake up between 8:45 and 9:30) and we decided to go to the 11:10 showing of Star Trek. We went to the theater, but that showing was sold out so we got tickets to the 12:45 showing and wandered around the mall for a while, then had DELICIOUS food for lunch :-) We went to a newer place, Five Guys Burgers and Fries, and it was crowded but delicious. They have boxes of shelled peanuts that you ...
